Tiffany’s goes into Triple Overtime!!… Monday, May 11th from 6:30- 8:30 compliments of former Detroit Red Wings great Igor Larionov.
Many people will remember Hall of Fame hockey player Igor Larionov as a star player on three Stanley Cup winning Detroit Red Wings teams in ‘97, ‘98 and ‘02. However, few people realize that wine is one of Igor’s true passions in life and he has channeled that passion into the production of incredibly high quality low-production wines from Australia and California.
Igor himself will be at Tiffany’s on Monday May 11th from 6:30-8:30 signing individual bottles of wine and offering his great wines for sale. There will only be (20) cases of wine available for sale so supplies will be limited. Igor’s wines are all sourced from high quality appellations (often from single vineyard sites) and are all made to the highest quality standards. Crop yields are kept low, old vines are sourced when possible, and minimal intervention takes place during the wine making process. The result is wines of power, balance and great complexity. More information on Igor’s wines can be found at http://iltripleovertime.com/
Please join us Monday to welcome Igor to Kalamazoo and don’t miss this unique opportunity to score some of his spectacular wine and meet one of the true hockey greats of our time. Joining Igor will be his partner, and our good friend, Mike Davis.

Wine & Spirits
We are happy to announce that the Annual Tour of German Winemakers and Estate Owners will be stopping in Southwest Michigan on Saturday March 7th from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm at The Gull Lake Country Club.
This prestigious collection of estate owners and winemakers visit cities such as Boston, New York, and Chicago; but thanks to Skip Sherriff of
Battle Creek and the friendships he formed when he was a child touring Germany with his father, these wine producers will be visiting Southwest Michigan for the 12th time.
In addition to tasting these fine wines, appetizers and hors d’ouevres; you will also get to meet the winemakers, estate owners and their families. We are hoping to offer up to 22 different estates and over 80 different wines to taste. The majority of these wines are made from the Riesling grape, but they range from dry to semi-dry to the rare German sparkling wines. This will change your conception of fine German wine.
The winemakers will offer special discounts for any orders placed at the tasting. The price is $30.00 per person and reservations must be made before noon Friday before the tasting. Please contact us at the store if you have any questions or need further information.

2006 Mas des Chimeres |
|
|
The 2006 Mas des Chimeres (“mah day sheemare”) produced by Guilhem Darde is our 2008 Wine of The Year. It is a blend of approximately 70% Syrah, 20% Grenache, 5% Cinsault and 5% Mourvedre. These varietals are at their best in the South of France where they reach full maturity and produce wines full of rich spicy fruit. Dry harsh weather and poor soil conditions ensure low yields andgrapes of high concentration. The wine is deep purple with a ripe nose of cloves, cinnamon and coffee. The mid palate if fat with concentrated black fruits that literally jumps from the glass. The wine is aged in oak barrique and bottled 100% unfined and unfiltered. The fine tannins are balanced by the rich fruit and the wine finishes with notes of licorice, coffee and kirsch. This wine will throw off some sediment so it is best to stand it up for a day or two before serving. Our Wine of The Year comes from the Louise/Dressner portfolio which is a small group of 60 vignerons from France, Italy and Portugal. What makes the Louis/Dressner portfolio special is simple…quality. The wines are produced in as natural a vinification process as possible. This non-interventionist approach to wine making has helped Louis/Dressner earn a reputation for high quality wines that capture the essence of the territory from where they are grown. The Louis/Dressner wines are highly recommended by the N.Y. Times wine critic Eric Asimov. Our Panel of tasters this year included Bill Weier, Bill Fiebig, Steve Wood and Caroline Carpenter. We thank them for their time and taste buds. We hope that you enjoy our 2008 Wine of The Year as much as we enjoyed the process of tasting dozens and dozens of wines to select the 2006 Mas des Chimeres for you! Call or e-mail us at he store and we will help you reserve your bottles of our Wine of the Year! Please inquire about shipping this special wine to friends or family for the Holidays. Cheers, |

The First Annual Tiffany’s Thanksgiving Turkey Wine Guide
The myths about Thanksgiving dinner:
- Tryptophan in the turkey makes you sleepy. This has been proven false unless you eat the whole 40 pound turkey at one sitting!
- You shouldn’t serve champagne on Thanksgiving. We suggest that a glass of sparkling wine before you begin eating is a great way to stimulate your appetite.
Our recommendations for a memorable meal:
A light to medium bodied red wine will go with roast turkey better than anything. We suggest Pinot Noir, Gamay or even a Grenache, it is important that you remember to try new wines until you find the one you like.
A dry un-oaked Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc is wonderful to sip with appetizers before the sit down meal
Some of our guests swear by Beaujolais Nouveau as the wine for this Holiday and we don’t disagree, but we don’t want to limit ourselves to just this one wine.
If you plan on enjoying a non-traditional dinner of duck then we suggest a fruity Malbec, or if your family is cooking a ham try it with a nice Shiraz.
A nice spicy Gewurztraminer goes excellent with dressing or even pumpkin pie.
Our staff is ready to help you select a variety of wines for this holiday. If you buy six bottles or more, we are ready to discount them so you have more money left for your stuffing and side dishes. Call or e-mail us at he store and we will help you choose the wines for our favorite eating and drinking holiday!
Lastly the management and staff here at Tiffany’s want to wish you and your family a happy, healthy and enjoyable Thanksgiving.
Cheers,
Tiffany’s
